Survey

As a method of research that we believed would be useful in this particular research, we conducted a survey on the residents and business establishments of Teachers Village East. All in all, 48 households and establishments, which is 7% of the household population, participated in the survey. The questions, in Filipino as to avoid confusion for the surveyed, are as follows:
11. May iba pa ba kayong paraan ng pagtapon ng inyong basura?

Analysis of data from the survey

1) Apparently, segregation is very important to most of the people in the village.

2) 3/5 of the households segregate.

3) Half of the households recycle used plastic/metal containers. Not bad.

4) 3/5 of them listen to public service announcements regarding recycling on the tv.

5) Half of the villagers are aware of the recycling program of the baranggay.

6) Just a little more than half of them support this program.

7) Generally, 2 garbage bags a week are thrown out a week per household.

8) 62.5% go out and buy reusable bags for grocery. It does cost extra so maybe it turns off some people.

9) They all agree that the collection of garbage is effective. The QC office is doing a good job.

10) 3/4 of the villagers sell their recyclables to junk shops. They realize the importance of money from trash.

11) Half of the respondents claimed that they had other ways of disposing of their trash like burying and burning.
